A woman’s body has been discovered tangled on a yacht’s propeller. Police are searching the area nearby for clues to her identity and how she died.

Moreton Island has become the scene of what looks like a bizarre murder which has left investigators stumped. An as yet unidentified female’s body was found, bound by rope, and entangled on the propeller of a yacht anchored near Lucinda Bay, east of Brisbane. Who she is and how she got there is unknown.

Yachtsman Neil Lundy discovered the body this morning.

“We heard a bump under her [the boat] and wondered what it was. I got under it and saw some rope wrapped around the prop… [I] freed it and a body floated up. I’ll never forget those eyes,” Lundy said.

Police were sent to the region immediately this morning to investigate.

At this time there is no known cause of death and the name of the victim has not yet been established. All tourists on the island have been accounted for and no one has been reported missing. Police say the victim is aged in her late teens or early twenties.

Investigations continue on Moreton Island and the surrounding areas.
